1. About Safe Steps United

Safe Steps United is a nonprofit corporation registered in the State of Michigan. We develop prevention-focused educational resources and workshop programs designed to support youth safety, conflict resolution, safety awareness, and responsible decision-making.

References to “Safe Steps United,” “we,” “our,” or “us” in these Terms and Conditions refer to Safe Steps United and its authorized representatives.

2. Educational Purpose

The information and resources available through this website are provided for educational and informational purposes.

Safe Steps United does not provide legal, medical, mental health, therapeutic, law-enforcement, crisis-intervention, or emergency services. Our resources are not substitutes for professional advice, individualized assessment, counseling, treatment, emergency response, or services provided by qualified professionals.

Use of our materials does not create a professional, advisory, therapeutic, or confidential relationship between Safe Steps United and the user.

3. Emergency and Safety Situations

Safe Steps United’s resources are designed to support prevention education and skill development. They cannot address every situation or guarantee a specific safety, behavioral, educational, or community outcome.

Anyone experiencing an immediate emergency, threat, or risk of harm should contact 911, local emergency services, or an appropriate crisis-response professional. Users should not rely on this website as a source of emergency assistance.

4. Use by Minors

This website is intended primarily for adults, including parents, educators, community leaders, organizational representatives, and professionals who support young people.

Individuals under 18 may review appropriate public content with the knowledge and supervision of a parent, legal guardian, educator, or other responsible adult.

Children under 13 should not submit personal information through this website, create an account, make a purchase, register for a program, or independently communicate through website forms.

Purchases, registrations, service requests, and contractual arrangements must be completed by an adult with the legal authority to enter into the transaction.

5. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the website and its content are owned by or licensed to Safe Steps United. Protected content may include:

  • Organizational names, logos, and branding
  • Written content and educational frameworks
  • Program books, field guides, workbooks, and workshop materials
  • Facilitator and participant resources
  • Graphics, videos, photographs, and downloadable materials
  • Website design and original digital content

The purchase of a physical or digital resource does not transfer its copyright or other intellectual-property rights.

Users may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, upload, modify, adapt, translate, sell, license, transmit, or commercially exploit Safe Steps United content without prior written authorization, except where limited use is expressly permitted by the applicable product terms or written agreement.

Organizations wishing to reproduce, distribute, customize, facilitate, or incorporate Safe Steps United materials into a broader program should contact us regarding licensing or authorized organizational use.

6. Permitted Website Use

You may use the website for lawful personal, educational, informational, or authorized organizational purposes.

You agree not to:

  • Use the website or its resources for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or misleading purposes
  • Misrepresent your identity, affiliation, authority, or relationship with Safe Steps United
  • Copy, scrape, download, or collect website content through automated means without authorization
  • Interfere with the security, accessibility, or operation of the website
  • Upload or transmit malicious code, spam, or harmful material

  • Use Safe Steps United’s name, logo, resources, or materials to imply an endorsement, certification, partnership, or affiliation that has not been authorized in writing

Safe Steps United may restrict or terminate access when it reasonably believes the website is being misused.

7. Product and Resource Information

We make reasonable efforts to describe our educational resources accurately. However, product descriptions, photographs, dimensions, page counts, availability, pricing, and other information may occasionally contain errors or require updates.

Safe Steps United may correct errors, revise descriptions, update pricing, limit quantities, discontinue resources, or cancel an order affected by inaccurate information or unavailable inventory.

Website content describing a proposed, developing, or future resource does not constitute a promise that the resource will be released by a specific date.

8. Orders and Payments

Orders are subject to availability, verification, and acceptance by Safe Steps United. Submission of an order does not guarantee acceptance or fulfillment.

Safe Steps United may decline or cancel an order because of:

  • Product unavailability
  • Pricing or description errors
  • Payment-processing problems
  • Suspected fraud or unauthorized activity
  • Incorrect shipping or contact information
  • Circumstances that make fulfillment impractical or unlawful

Customers are responsible for providing accurate billing, shipping, and contact information.

Payments may be processed through third-party payment providers. Safe Steps United does not control the separate terms, security practices, or privacy practices of those providers.

Applicable prices, taxes, shipping charges, and other fees will be presented before or during checkout whenever purchasing is available through the website.

9. Shipping, Returns, Refunds, and Cancellations

Shipping, delivery, return, refund, exchange, and cancellation terms are governed by the policy displayed on the website or provided in connection with the applicable transaction.

Program registrations, workshops, presentations, custom orders, bulk orders, and organizational purchases may have separate cancellation and refund terms stated in a proposal, invoice, order confirmation, or written agreement.

Where a separate written agreement applies, that agreement will control if it conflicts with this section.

10. Workshops, Presentations, and Programs

Descriptions of workshops, presentations, and programs on the website are provided for general informational purposes. Availability, format, audience, location, scheduling, pricing, responsibilities, and deliverables will be confirmed separately.

A workshop, presentation, program, or organizational engagement is not confirmed until Safe Steps United provides written confirmation and the parties complete any required agreement, registration, or payment arrangements.

Safe Steps United may modify program content, format, facilitators, dates, or delivery arrangements when reasonably necessary.

Participation in a Safe Steps United workshop or use of its resources does not guarantee a particular educational, behavioral, safety, or community outcome.

11. Partnerships and Collaborations

Safe Steps United welcomes inquiries concerning partnerships, community collaborations, resource distribution, workshops, presentations, sponsorships, and shared initiatives.

Submitting an inquiry or discussing a possible opportunity does not create a partnership, joint venture, agency relationship, endorsement, sponsorship, or contractual obligation.

A formal relationship exists only when authorized representatives of the parties enter into a written agreement.

12. Partnerships and Collaborations

Safe Steps United welcomes inquiries concerning educational partnerships, community collaborations, resource distribution, workshops, presentations, programs, and other mission-aligned initiatives.

Submitting an inquiry, participating in a discussion, or exchanging preliminary information does not create a partnership, joint venture, agency relationship, endorsement, exclusivity arrangement, or contractual obligation.

A formal partnership, collaboration, or organizational engagement exists only when authorized representatives of the parties approve the relationship through a written agreement, contract, purchase order, or other documented authorization.

Neither party may use the other party’s name, logo, trademarks, photographs, or public statements without appropriate permission.

18. Privacy

Use of the website is also subject to the Safe Steps United Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy explains how information may be collected, used, stored, and shared. Users should review that policy before submitting personal information through the website.

19. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any dispute relating to these Terms or the website will be addressed in an appropriate court located in Michigan, subject to any consumer protection, jurisdictional, or other legal rights that cannot be waived.

20. Changes to These Terms

Safe Steps United may revise these Terms and Conditions as its website, resources, programs, or legal obligations change.

The updated version will be posted on the website with a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the website after revised Terms are posted constitutes acceptance of those Terms to the extent permitted by law.
